Development opportunities


Employee development at Drees & Sommer follows the guiding principle Keep on learning.

This includes the Drees & Sommer Academy, which operates on the by us, for us principle, that is, it is predominantly run by employees for employees. Internal and external instructors run Basic, Professional, and Special courses to teach specific Drees & Sommer approaches, methods and tools, as well as key soft skills. The entire Academy uses a modern blended learning approach, combining classroom sessions and e-learning.

Basic: basic information about the company, and specific training on topics such as discussion techniques and consulting skills.

Professional: e-learning platform with content for more in-depth self-study

Special courses: expert topics such as Lean Construction Management or the internationally recognized Project Management Professional (PMP©) certificate.

There are also numerous courses tailored to emerging market requirements. As part of our management development program, we also have specific courses for employees taking on management roles, systematically preparing them for their new responsibilities.


We want new employees to feel integrated from the word go. That is why we provide a range of support for new employees, tailored to their personal experience.

When you join us, in addition to your line manager you will have a personal mentor assigned to support you. They are there to help you with any questions you may have. We also offer an onboarding consultation to professionals with more than four years’ experience. Professionals can also reflect and develop strategies with a neutral party during their first weeks. Then, after 100 days, they discuss their impressions with their line manager and are provided with initial feedback. At the end of the probationary period, the manager and the new employee discuss experiences so far and define goals for their work together in the future.

Working abroad

Think global – act local. This principle describes the approach we take. We either have our own international offices on site, or we accompany clients abroad for their projects.

Personal lives and professional commitments

Work is important to you, but there’s more to life, right? That is exactly the way we see it, too. We support our employees in striking the right balance between their personal lives and their professional commitments. We have a range of offerings to suit different phases of life and individual aspirations. Career and family, flexible working, remuneration and fringe benefits, as well as sports and health, play a special role for our employees. We offer parental and family care time as well as individual and flexible part-time models. Working hours are based on trust rather than rigid compulsory hours. If the activity permits, we allow employees – with the agreement of their line manager – to do some of their work from home.
